How DiscovrX Calculates Potential Supplier Fit
A transparent explanation of DiscovrX’s eight-dimension potential supplier-fit calculation, weighting and evidence threshold.
What potential supplier fit means
Potential supplier fit shows how an illustrative or eligible supplier profile aligns with a buyer’s actual AI requirement. It is decision support, not verification, accreditation or an automatic recommendation.
Potential supplier fit remains separate from the recommended buying route. The buying route is determined from the buyer’s assessment and is not changed by supplier availability or fit percentages.
The eight dimensions
1. Use-case and capability fit 2. Buyer and organisational fit 3. Technical and integration fit 4. Data, security and responsible AI fit 5. Commercial fit 6. Implementation and service fit 7. Evidence strength and credibility 8. Risk and procurement fit
Geography is considered within buyer and organisational fit or implementation and service fit. Support is considered within implementation and service fit.
Fit states
Each applicable dimension receives one state:
- •Aligned: 1 point.
- •Partial: 0.5 points.
- •Unknown: 0 points.
- •Conflict: 0 points.
- •Not applicable: excluded from the calculation.
Unknown information contributes zero because missing evidence must never be treated as positive evidence.
Weighting
A must-have dimension has weight 2. A preference dimension has weight 1. Weighting reflects the buyer’s stated requirement; supplier payment does not change a dimension, weight, percentage or ranking.
The exact formula
Potential fit = aligned weighted points ÷ total applicable weighted points × 100.
The result is rounded to a whole percentage. Partial contributes half of the applicable weight. Unknown and conflict contribute zero. Not-applicable dimensions are removed from both the numerator and denominator.
Minimum evidence threshold
At least four dimensions must be genuinely assessable before a percentage is displayed. If fewer than four dimensions are assessable, DiscovrX displays: Insufficient evidence to calculate potential fit.
Assessment coverage and evidence coverage
Assessment coverage shows how many dimensions can be assessed from the buyer requirement and structured supplier fields. Evidence coverage shows how many dimensions have supporting supplier evidence. They are different measures and are displayed separately.
What the percentage does not mean
Potential fit does not prove that a supplier is verified, accredited, suitable for contracting or guaranteed to deliver an outcome. It does not replace legal, commercial, technical, security, privacy or procurement due diligence. DiscovrX separates fictional demonstration profiles, supplier-submitted claims and independently reviewed evidence so buyers can see what still needs confirmation.
